In our elementary culinary classes, students go beyond recipes—they explore nutrition, cultural traditions, and the joy of preparing food with purpose. Under the guidance of a culinary educator experienced in teaching children, students learn essential kitchen skills like measuring, chopping, sautéing, and baking, all within a safe and developmentally appropriate environment.
Rooted in Montessori principles of independence and practical life, our culinary program emphasizes responsibility, creativity, and contribution. Students take pride in cooking not only for themselves but also for their peers, staff, and even guests during community events and school-wide celebrations.
Through hands-on practice, they discover how food connects people, supports health, and empowers them to care for themselves and others.

Our gardening program invites students to explore the natural world through hands-on experiences that cultivate responsibility, patience, and curiosity. In partnership with a local farm, children participate in every stage of the growing process—planting seeds, nurturing sprouts, harvesting produce, and understanding seasonal cycles.
Aligned with Montessori principles, gardening at Kindred Montessori Academy is more than a science lesson—it’s a way for children to connect with the earth, learn where their food comes from, and witness the power of care and consistency. Students learn to observe closely, ask questions, and reflect on the interconnectedness of all living things.
As they dig, water, and harvest, they also develop a deep respect for nature and a sense of pride in contributing to the school community—especially when they share the fruits (and vegetables!) of their labor during school events and class meals.

At Kindred Montessori Academy, physical education is designed to support the whole child—body, mind, and spirit. Through partnerships with local organizations, our students engage in a dynamic range of movement experiences including dance, jiu-jitsu, yoga, and team sports.
These classes emphasize coordination, discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence, while honoring each child’s developmental stage and individual comfort level. Whether mastering a new dance routine, practicing mindful breathing, or learning the basics of soccer or martial arts, students gain physical literacy and a lifelong love of movement.
Many of these enrichment offerings are led by community-based professionals and may involve an additional fee. Families are informed in advance and can opt into the sessions that best fit their child’s interests.
